Ed Tobias
Assistant Managing Editor/Newsgathering
Tobias is responsible for all news coverage on the AP Radio Networks and the AP Broadcast wires.
During more than twenty years with AP, Tobias has covered more than fifteen space shuttle launches, the 1984, 1988 and 1992, 1996 and 2000 political conventions and campaigns, and Soviet-American summits in Reykjavik, Iceland; Valletta, Malta; Moscow, Vancouver and Washington, D.C. He has also run the Broadcast News Center's news desk and served as a reporter and news anchor. Before joining AP, Tobias was News Director at all-news WTOP Radio in Washington, D.C., WASH Radio in Washington and WFAS Radio in White Plains, New York. Tobias is currently pursuing an MSB in Information Systems and Telecommunications at Johns Hopkins University on an Oliver Gramling Fellowship, received from the AP in 1987. He is the recipient of two Ohio State Awards for news documentaries and is a past-president of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the Radio Television News Directors' Association. Tobias received his B.S. in Communications from Ithaca College, in New York.
Wally Hindes
Assistant Managing Editor/ Radio
Hindes oversees the radio operations for the Associated Press.
Hindes joined the Associated Press in 1986 as a newsman at the Broadcast News Center in Washington. He has served in a variety of capacities at AP Radio including producer, writer, editor and supervisor. He began anchoring AP Network morning drive newscasts in 1987, and was appointed assistant managing editor/operations in 1992. Hindes has anchored network coverage of shuttle launches, presidential-debates, and political conventions. He helped develop AP's All News Radio national format. Among network coverage he has produced for AP Network are the Persian Gulf War, the Oklahoma City bombing, the OJ Simpson trial, shuttle launches, political conventions, and the Clinton Impeachment hearings. Prior to joining the AP, he spent 13 years as an anchor, reporter and news director in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago and Washington DC.
Barbara Worth
Assistant Managing Editor/News
Worth oversees the national broadcast wires, the Washington DC Metro broadcast and print reports, and the 50 state broadcast wires.
She joined AP in 1983 as a broadcast writer in New York, and went on to become an editor, reporter, producer, supervisor for the broadcast wires and AP Radio Networks. She also served as manager of AP's GraphicsBank, and is currently assigned as interim bureau manager for APTN in New York.
